Approved Rims

Mount tires only on approved rims. Approved rims are rims that have the proper diameter and width for which a tire is designed.

Rim width – If you choose to purchase a larger-size replacement tire for your vehicle and have it installed on the original equipment rim, be sure the rim has the proper approved width for the larger tire. It is not recommended that a tire be placed in service if mounted on a rim that is too narrow or too wide for which the tire is designed. Your local tire service professional should have a list of approved rim widths for every tire size in their store inventory.

  • Never install a tire on a rim that is too narrow.
  • Never install (or “stretch”) a tire on a rim that is too wide.
  • Never have tires installed on rims by untrained tire service personnel.

Always verify that a rim diameter matches the tire size prior to mounting.
